i have weird dreams. i'm going to write about them here.
'Our dreams speak in the forgotten language of symbols. The art of dreamwork begins with remembering.
Every night, images are narrated together in a sophisticated order to form our private myth. Yet every morning, we wake up with amnesia. Or, if we do remember something, it reads like nonsense. This is not because we need an expert to interpret our dreams, but because we have exiled the symbolic world.
Our psyche/soul generates, grows through and is healed by images. So intrinsic are they to us that our everyday speech is made up of them. We 'dig our own graves' and get 'knots in our stomach', we find ourselves 'feeling raw'. But in our infatuation with the literal agenda, we have forgotten how to recognize these symbols.
Dreamwork is about following the images to get at their resonance for us. It may mean googling turtles on a quiet morning, interviewing a bicycle, or simply sharing your dream with a friend. But the crumbs will begin to form a path. And the deeper you go into your unconscious forest, the less governed you will be by shadows.
Every step inward is a victory for the dreamer and a contribution made to the tribe. Your dream fits with my dream fits with her dream fits with his dream. Like a hologram, the dreams are whole for each of us, but also interconnected pieces of the greater dream-web (also known as Reality)'. - Toko-pa Turner
